Rutgers University to Host Career Fair in January

More than 150 private and public sector employers will meet prospective job candidates at the New Jersey Collegiate Career Day at Rutgers University on Jan. 3.

The career fair fair, which is expected to attract about 3,000 entry-level and experienced job candidates, will run from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Rutgers Student Center, located at 126 College Avenue, and the Brower Commons, located at 145 College Avenue, in New Brunswick.

More than 150 employers from a wide range of industries and sectors will meet thousands of recent and soon-to-be college graduates seeking internships and full-time jobs. Job seekers are encouraged to wear business attire and to bring multiple copies of their résumés for employers. Parking will be available at the Scarlet Parking Lot West near Rutgers High Point Solutions football stadium in Piscataway. Free shuttle buses will run continuously between the parking areas and the career fair from 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Employers and job candidates may find additional information about the career fair at http://careerservices.rutgers.edu.

The job outlook for recent college graduates is improving. The U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the national economy added 146,000 jobs in November, with the unemployment rate dropping to 7.7 percent, the lowest since December 2008. The National Association of Colleges and Employers also reports that unemployment for new college graduates fell significantly from 8.3 percent in September 2011 to 6.3 percent in September 2012.
