Princeton Police Blotter: Bike Thefts, DWIs and More
A Hyundai slid on the wet roadway on Rosedale Road near Province Line Road at about 9 a.m. this morning and the car struck a BMW that was stopped in traffic. Hyundai Jessica Proszynski, 25, of Hillsborough was issued a summons for careless driving. Andrew, Nation, 34, of Scotch Plains, who was driving the BMW, complained of neck pain and was transported to a local hospital.
A resident of the 100 block of Mercer Street called police at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday to report that she heard a noise from the street where her vehicle was parked, and then discovered that someone had broken off the side view mirror of her vehicle.
A Princeton resident was charged with driving while intoxicated after being stopped for a motor vehicle violation just after 5 a.m. on June 2. Joshua Gordon, 21,ย was found to have been consuming alcoholic beverages prior to operating his vehicle. He was charged with DWI, DWI in a school zone, texting while driving, and other motor vehicle violations. He was later released to a relative pending a court date.
A Maryland resident was stopped on Nassau Street for a motor vehicle violation just before 1 a.m. June 1 on Nassau Street near Mercer Street and was found to have consumed alcoholic beverages prior to operating his vehicle. William Lehrman, 57, of Ellicott City, Maryland, was charged with DWI, DWI in a school zone, DWI with a minor as a passenger, and other motor vehicle charges.
A Skillman resident was stopped for a motor vehicle violation on Cherry Valley Road near the Great Road just before 2 a.m. on May 31. During the stop it was determined that the woman had been consuming alcoholic beverages prior to operating her vehicle. The 52-year-old woman was charged with driving while intoxicated, DWI in a school zone, refusal to submit to breath tests, and other motor vehicle violations.
Police arrested an 18-year-old Lawrence resident on May 31 during a follow-up investigation of an earlier theft at a business on Route 206. Steven Aparicio-Paz was charged with the theft of an X-Box and a laptop computer. He was released after posting bail.
A resident of the first block of Wilton Street reported that her Schwinn Mountain Bike was stolen from her front porch some time between 8 p.m. on May 26 and 7 a.m. on May 27.
A resident of the first block of Wiggins Street reported that a Bridgestone bicycle had been stolen from the front porch ofย the resident’s house some time between 10 p.m. May 29th and 8:30 a.m. May 30.
An officer spotted two people in possession of alcohol on the 200 block of Nassau Street on May 30 questioned them. While attempting to verify their ages, both presented falsified drivers licenses, police said. Hyun Kim, 18, and a 17-year-old juvenile offender were placed under arrest. Upon arrest Kim was also found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and paraphernalia. Both were charged with underage possession of alcohol and tampering with public documents. Kim was also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia
