Screening of “Les Miserables” at the Princeton Public Library – Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe star in this 2012 adaptation of the musical play based on Victor Hugo’s French historical novel. In 19th-century France, Jean Valjean, after breaking parole, is ruthlessly hunted for decades by police inspector Javert. Part of the Hot Summer Friday Night Flicks series. 2 hours, 38 minutes. Friday Night Fireworks in New Hope and Lambertville – Live music, fireworks over the Delaware River at about 9:30 p.m, free.

Area Farmers’ Markets – Montgomery Friends of Open Space, Village Shopping Center, 1340 Route 206 South, Skillman, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. West Windsor Community Farmers’ Market, Vaughn Drive Parking Lot, Princeton Junction Train Station, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Pennington Farmers Market, Rosedale Mills, 101 Route 31 North, Pennington, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. School Supplies collection for Families in Need  at The Pennington Farmers Market this Saturday. Many low-income workers face the challenge of sending their children back to school with a well-outfitted backpack. Support the Eastern Service Workers Back-to-School Drive by contributing school supplies.

Stuff the Bus School Supplies Drive – The United Way of Greater Mercer County, in partnership with the Junior League of Greater Princeton, 217 Church and the YMCA of Trenton, will host a school supply drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Princeton Walmart and the Hamilton Walmart. Backpacks will be stuffed with donated school supplies and distributed to local children in need.

Princeton Corkscrew Wine Tasting – Wine and cheese tasting and art show, featuring the work of the Corkscrew’s very own Olivia Jupillat. 49 Hulfish,1-6 p.m., free.

Palmer Square Summer Concert Series –  The Richard Reiter Swing Band prforms on the green. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket. 2-4 p.m., free.

Acoustic Road – This  popular classic acoustic rock duo features guitarist and vocalist  Matt Robinson and keyboardist and vocalist Jeff Friedman. Hinds Plaza, 4 p.m., free.

The Crosswick Band performs at Halo Pub  – Rock performance from 6 to 9 p.m. outside of the ice cream shop at 5 Hulfish Street, free.

Sunday, Aug. 18

Jazz and Peaches Festival at the Plainsboro Presbyterian Church – Sale of peach desserts benefit HomeFront. Live music. 500 Plainsboro Road, 5 to 7 p.m.

India Foundation of Metropolitan Princeton Picnic– Indian food, cricket, face painting, volleyball, music and more.  Mercer County Park East, 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission $15.
