Latest update from Princeton Administrator Bob Bruschi (edited):

Emergency Personnel met this morning at 9:30 to reassess the impacts of the latest weather system. During the overnight hours we experienced several new instances of trees and or significant sized branches coming down. In addition we continue to have many streets that have wires down and or trees and wires down. The town’s tree crews will handle any of the trees that do not have wires co-mingled within the branches. PSE&G has several tree crews in town that will handle the trees with the wires and they also have significant crews of electrical workers. They are devoting what they believe to be the necessary manpower and equipment to restore the power to the roughly 1,400 remaining properties.

With colder temperatures being forecast over the next few days, residents will continue to have available warming centers and/or a place to charge electronics. These are available throughout the weekend regardless of the status of the power restoration.  The library is available during all of their normal business hours with Witherspoon Hall available 24 hours a day. Residents are being asked to enter Witherspoon Hall through the police department entrance on valley road side. In addition McCaffrey’s is open during the normal business hours, there is wifi available and the upstairs area is available as a warming center.

It is very important that as PSE&G nears completion of the majority of the restoration that residents make sure that they have contacted PSE&G to verify if their properties are without power.  It is possible that there could be isolated properties whose power may be fed from different  sources/directions.  So if power is apparent in your neighborhood and you do not have power immediately call PSE&G at 1-800-436-7734 We will continue to communicate with PSE&G to complete work needed in which to reestablish electric connections.

The town continues to have a couple of intersections that are controlled by traffic signals that have no power. Please exercise caution when utilizing these intersections they are at Great Road and Stuart Road as well as Mountain avenue at Route 206.

Our Public Works crews continue to do cleanup operations of both downed trees and residual snow removal efforts on some of the streets.  This will include snow removal in parking lots and along areas of the central business district.  Some of these activities are being conducted so as to provide the necessary room for snow storage in the event of another storm.

Additional information will be provided as it becomes available you with further info when it is available.
