Princeton Area Road Construction Work for Week of May 12

roadworkPhase I of the Mercer Road repair work was successfully completed last week. This phase consisted of repairs to Mercer Road from the Lawrence Township border to Lovers Lane. Portions of the roadway were milled and paved with new road base material and the Quaker Road intersection was resurfaced. The final surfacing of the section of the road between Quaker Road and the Lawrence Township line is scheduled to begin June 9, weather permitting.

Today, May 12, New Jersey American Water will be installing new water service on Mercer Road between Gallup Road east and west. Mercer Road will have a lane closure at Gallup Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mercer Road will remain open after this work is completed, until  the final resurfacing work begins June 9.

Quaker Road repairs will begin the week of June 9 and will involve the milling, repair and resurfacing of Quaker Road between Mercer Road and the Port Mercer area from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. The second phase of the project is expected to take approximately three to four weeks. It is expected that roadways will be open to traffic during non-scheduled work hours.

Traffic on Faculty Road will be alternated on one lane between Elm Drive and Washington Road from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today, May 12, due to utility work related to the development of Princeton University’s Lakeside Graduate Housing project.

Beginning today, May 12, Montana Construction will begin water main replacement work on Park Place for New Jersey American Water. The existing 4-inch water main will be replaced with a new 8-inch steel main. Park Place will be closed while the work is done.
