AvalonBay to Host Neighborhood Meeting in Princeton in Early September
Developer AvalonBay will host a neighborhood meeting on Sept. 3 to discuss the demolition process for the former hospital site on Witherspoon Street in downtown Princeton. The meeting will be held in the main meeting room of the municipal building at 400 Witherspoon Street from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The meeting is open to all neighborhood residents.
The town of Princeton and AvalonBay agreed to a revised developer’s agreement this week. The project will now move forward, and demolition is expected to start at the site next month.
A 280-unit apartment complex is slated for the site. The development will include 56 affordable units. Some neighborhood residents oppose the project because of the size of the complex, the number of units, and concerns about environmental issues. Affordable housing advocates support the project because of the number of new affordable units that will be added to Princeton.
