Area Farmers’ Markets – Montgomery Friends of Open Space, Village Shopping Center, 1340 Route 206 South, Skillman, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. West Windsor Community Farmers’ Market, Vaughn Drive Parking Lot, Princeton Junction Train Station, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Pennington Farmers Market, Rosedale Mills, 101 Route 31 North, Pennington, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Toys 2 Share Family Volunteer Event – Families can learn more about the orphanages this non-profit partners with and help pack, decorate and write letters to kids at orphanages across the globe. Event features several activities including storytelling (popular children stories from various cultures), games, face painting, entertainment, dessert samples and music. Children can bring a gently used toy, clothes, books or art supplies they may want to donate. Albert Hinds Plaza next to the Princeton Public Library. 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Quaker Bridge Mall Diaper Derby– Mercer County’s biggest tiny tots competition will be making its first appearance at the Quaker Bridge Mall at 1:30 p.m. This free, family-friendly event will take place in the Center Court and will be hosted by 94.5 PST. The competition will consist of local babies participating in heats with the fastest crawler in each heat competing for first, second and third place. Winners in the final heat will receive trophies and prizes, including mall gift cards, tickets to Sesame Street Live, a photography session from Purple Circle Photography and music classes with Kids’ Music Round. Day-of registrations will be open for families from 10:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.

VooDUDES Perform on Palmer Square –  Blues, funk and zydeco on the Green. Part of the Palmer Square Summer Music Series. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket. 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Free.

California Mix Dance with the Central Jersey Dance Society – Lessons followed by social dance. No partner needed. Refreshments. Suzanne Patterson Center, 45 Stockton Street, Princeton. Lesson begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission $12.

Cafe Improv – Music, poetry and more at the Arts Council of Princeton. Stop by for an act or two or stay for the whole evening. 7 to 10 p.m. Admission $2, $1 for students, seniors and Arts Council members.

Outdoor Screening of “Night at the Museum” – Enjoy a family-friendly movie under the stars on the Green as part of the Summer Movies on the Green series. Bring your own blanket or lawn chair. Movie begins around 8:45 p.m. Free.

Sunday, August 24

Horse Show Jumping Family Day and $25,000 Grand Prix of Princeton –  Covered bleacher seating available. Each Sunday is “family day”, with free pony rides, petting zoo and face painting. Noon to 2 p.m. Grand Prix starts at 2. Enjoy shopping in the vendor boutique and watch top level equestrian competition. Horses and riders race against the clock for top prize money while spectators cheer them on. Hunters Farm North, 246 Burnt Hill Road, Skillman.

India Foundation of Metropolitan Princeton Picnic – Indian food, cricket, face painting, water slides, volleyball, football, a three-legged race, bingo, musical chairs, movies, and music. Bring chairs. Rain or shine. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mercer County Park East, 1346 Edinburg Road, West Windsor. Admission $15.

Sangria Weekends at Terhune Orchards – Stop by the farm’s winery tasting room for a sample of their sangria. Also available for purchase by the glass. Saturdays and Sundays in August. Noon to 5 p.m. 330 Cold Soil Road, Lawrenceville.
