Princeton Police Blotter: Multiple Bike Thefts and DWIs

princeton policeA student reported that some time between midnight and 1 a.m. on Sept. 7, someone stole her Coach purse at the Cloister Inn private eating club for Princeton University students on Prospect Avenue. The purse contained an iPhone and her identification.

A man from New Haven, Ct. was pulled over by police for a vehicle stop on Witherspoon Street near Nassau Street just before 1 a.m. on Sept. 7.  Michael Singletary, 36, was charged with driving while intoxicated, police said. He was processed at police headquarters and later released with summonses.

A resident from the 400 block of Ewing Street reported that some time between Sept. 4 and Sept. 5, someone used a sharp object and cut down a 3-foot-tall Japanese maple tree located on the front lawn of his property.

A resident of Lambert Drive reported that some time between Aug. 19 and Aug. 30, someone tried unsuccessfully to enter his house by removing a kitchen window screen and attempting to open the window.

After a three-car accident on Witherspoon Street on Aug. 31, a Princeton resident was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated. Ruperto Hernandez-Bautista, 39, was processed at police headquarters and later released. All three vehicles were towed from the scene by Lakeside Towing. One passenger sustained a minor leg laceration and refused medical treatment at the scene. No other injury was reported.

A Ewing resident was pulled over for a motor vehicle stop on Faculty Road just before midnight on Aug. 31. James Burnett, 28, was arrested for DWI and unlawful possession of prescription drugs. He was processed at police headquarters and later released to a friend.

A Kendall Park resident was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated after a motor vehicle stop on Moore Street near Spruce Street at 2 a.m. on Aug. 31. Jericho Cruzado, 24, was processed at police headquarters and later released.

A boy’s BMX bicycle valued at $80 was stolen from the Princeton Community Pool front entrance bike rack between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Aug. 29.

A men’s Diamondback mountain bike valued at $600 was stolen from a bike rack outside McCaffrey’s Market on Harrison Street some time between 11:30 a.m. and 9:22 p.m. on Aug. 26.

A men’s Trek 3500 mountain bike was stolen from the back porch of a home on Alexander Road some time between Aug. 24 and Aug. 25. The bike is valued at $350.
