Princeton Police Sgt. Geoff Maurer chats with residents at Panera on Saturday, Oct. 11. More than 35 people showed up for the first ever Princeton “Coffee with a Cop” event. Maurer, who organized the event, was happy with the turnout and the questions residents asked. Many of the participants were Princeton University students. “It would be great if we hold these coffee talks in various areas to attract residents from different neighborhoods,” Maurer said. “We could also have an event at the university in partnership with Princeton’s public safety department.”

Princeton Police Officer Mike Strobel shares a laugh with students at Panera Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Coffee with a Cop event. Students had a lot of questions about the police department’s oversight of the Princeton University campus and Prospect Avenue, where the private eating clubs often hold parties. Participants in the gathering were also curious about the officers’ backgrounds and how they chose their career paths.
