A half dozen police officers in South Brunswick made sure a five-year-old autistic boy had presents under his Christmas tree after the home was burglarized and all the presents were stolen from under the tree.
Detectives began investigating the Dayton burglary and learned that the suspect had stolen presents a single mom was going to give her son. The mom did not have money to replace the presents.
The officers decided they had to do something for the young boy and coordinated with the local PBA to buy him presents and deliver them to the home. The PBA and officers were able to more then double the number of presents for the child.
“The officers wanted to make sure this little boy had a Christmas this year and pulled together to make it possible,” Chief Raymond Hayducka said. “They represent the best of our department.”
