Notre Dame High Soccer Player Killed by NJ Transit Train Sunday Night

cody st phardAn 18-year-old soccer star at  at Notre Dame High School was killed Sunday night after he was struck by a train that was heading from one rail car maintenance yard to another one.

Jacob “Coby” St. Phard, of East Windsor Township was struck by the train just west of the Hamilton train station at about 8:20. Three crew members were on the train.

The death is the third “trespasser fatality” on the Northeast Corridor tracks in about a month.

Notre Dame High School held a Mass at 1 p.m. to pray for the family and the school community. The Lawrence parochial school is offering counseling to grieving students.

St. Phard, a senior, was slated to attend Susquehanna University in the fall.

NJ Transit trains were delayed for up to 90 minutes between Princeton Junction and Trenton on Sunday night.
