Mercer County, Towns Eligible for FEMA Aid for January Blizzard

Mercer County is one of 17 New Jersey counties the federal government has declared eligible for federal disaster aid to supplement recovery efforts from the January winter storm.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency will reimburse county and local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations for to 75 percent of  eligible storm-related costs they incurred while responding to the blizzard that dumped about two feet of snow in Central New Jersey.

Mercer County’s Office of Emergency Management will coordinate meetings between
FEMA, municipalities, and other agencies that may be eligible for aid. Individual residents are
not eligible for aid.

Storm-related costs in Mercer County, based on preliminary assessments, are estimated to be almost $1.3 million.
