A Notre Dame High School teacher was arrested Monday afternoon as his home in Franklin Township for allegedly fondling a student, kissing her, and telling her to send him naked pictures of her.
Edmund Harman, 26, has been charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of criminal sexual contact. Bail was set at $150,000, law enforcement officials said.
The Mercer County Prosecutor’s office says that in February of this year the victim went to school early to meet with Harman in his classroom at Notre Dame High in Lawrence for extra credit. During that meeting, Harman allegedly fondled her breasts, kissed the back of her neck, and massaged her back and legs. The student also claimed he directed her to send him naked photographs of herself.
Harman was arrested Monday afternoon following a joint investigation conducted by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit and the Lawrence Township Police Department. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on the case should contact Mercer County Prosecutor’s Detective Ahmad Mansur at (609) 989-6568 or Lawrence Police Detective Todd Caruso at (609) 896-1111.
