purple_rain_1984_20

The Princeton Garden Theatre will host a special screening of Prince’s “Purple Rain” at 7:30 p.m. next Thursday, May 5.

Last weekend, following Prince’s death on April 21, AMC booked the the semi-autobiographical rock movie in 87 AMC locations across the U.S. Many of the screenings have sold out as fans look for ways to celebrate Prince’s life. AMC will offer screenings at more than 200 AMC theaters starting this Friday.

Purple Rain, Prince’s first film,  was originally released in July 1984. The story is about a young musician who must cope with a rival singer, family issues, a blossoming romance, and troubles with his band.

The Garden Theatre is located at 160 Nassau Street in downtown Princeton. General admission to the special screening is $11. Tickets can be purchased online.
