Small Fire Quickly Extinguished at Westminster Choir College

Just after noon Wednesday, the Princeton Police Department, the Princeton Fire Department, the Kingston Fire Department, the Plainsboro Fire Department and the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory Fire Department all responded to the Westminster Choir College to investigate an active fire.

The fire was located in the first floor common bathroom of the Dayton Hall building. Dayton Hall was unoccupied at the time and the building did not need to be evacuated.

Th fire departments found the fire in an electrical fixture in the ceiling. Dry chemical fire extinguishers were used to extinguish the fire. It was determined that the fire did not spread to other parts of the building.

Although the investigation is ongoing, it is believed that the cause of the fire may have been electrical in nature. There were no injuries reported and the damage appeared to be minimal. The investigation has been turned over to the Princeton Fire Marshal’s office.
