Hopewell House Damaged in Wednesday Night Fire

A firefighter sustained minor injuries while battling a house fire on Province Line Road in Hopewell Township on Wednesday night, police said.

The Hopewell Township Police Department and the Hopewell Fire
Department went to the scene for a fire alarm activation at about 7 p.m.Β  Shortly after receiving the alarm activation, several people called 911 toΒ  report a structure fire on Province Line Road. The Hopewell Fire Department arrived and observed a fire in the rear of the building. The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

The fire was brought under control at approximately 8:15 p.m. The home suffered fire damage, as well as heat, smoke and water damage throughout the building.

This incident remains under investigation by the Hopewell Township Police Department, Hopewell Valley Emergency Services, the Mercer County Prosecutors Office and the Mercer County Fire Marshalls Office.

Responding agencies assisting the Hopewell Fire Department included the Pennington Fire Department, Union Fire Company, Lawrenceville Fire Company, Montgomery Fire Company #2, Montgomery Fire Company #1, Princeton Fire Department, Princeton First Aid Squad, Rocky Hill Fire Department and Hopewell Valley Emergency Services.

Province Line Road was closed for about three hours Wednesday night due to the fire.
