Hundreds of people gathered at the Delaware Canal in Riegelsville, Pa. on Saturday afternoon to protest the proposed PennEast Pipeline. Some residents on Mercer County, Hunterdon County, and Bucks County, Pa. who oppose the pipeline have refused to allow the Transco gas company to survey their land. Opponents of the pipeline say the project will destroy environmentally sensitive lands in Eastern Pa. and New Jersey. At pipeline hearings in Trenton, residents were allowed to comment one by one privately, but there was no open public comment session. After the close of public comment, the company changed the pipeline route. Opponents of the pipeline say more public comment on the proposed project should be allowed because of the changes.
