Strolling mariachis, sugar skull decorating, face painting, and live dance performances will be featured at the annual Day of the Dead celebration from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 5, in the courtyard at the Princeton Shopping Center.
The Day of the Dead is observed throughout the world in connection with Halloween and All Souls’ Day. Family and friends gather to remember and honor those who have died. Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars using sugar skulls, marigolds and favorite foods of the deceased, and then visiting graves with these gifts.
This free community event is sponsored by the Princeton Shopping Center, the Arts Council of Princeton, and Mi Pueblo Lindo. Food and beverages from Totopos a Mexican restaurant in Lawrenceville will be for sale at the event.
