Lightning strike causes fire at Har Sinai Temple

A small fire near the roof of the Har Sinai Temple most likely was caused by a lightning, police said.

The fire was extinguished quickly by the Pennington Fire Company, the first fire truck to arrive on the scene. Hopewell Valley Emergency Services also assisted. The building suffered minor damage to the exterior wall/roof area, an interior second floor classroom, and smoke damage to the second floor.

A part of the building was occupied at the time of the incident, and all occupants exited
the building safely and are fine.

The fire was brought under control at about 6 p.m.
