Former United States Senator Bill Bradley visited Tigerlabs on Nassau Street in downtown Princeton Monday morning to endorse Democrat Phil Murphy for governor. Bradley, a three-term Democratic senator who ran unsuccessfully for the party’s nomination fr president in 2000, is a Princeton University alumnus. He was the NCAA men’s basketball player of the year in 1965,earned a gold medal as a member of the 1964 Olympic basketball team, and went on to play professional basketball with the Knicks for a decade. Bradley joked about his height as he sat next to Murphy at Tigerlabs during the endorsement announcement, pointing out that some politicians don’t like to stand next to him because of his tall stature. “I’m happy to endorse Phil for governor,” Bradley said. “For the last eight years a lot of people have taken it on the chin…Phil is the right guy for change.” Bradley said Murphy came from a working class family and knows what it is like to live paycheck to paycheck. “He has had a distinguished career and has given back,” Bradley said. “New Jersey is very lucky to have him.”
