Teen dies after South Brunswick crash

A Bergen County teenager has died as a result of injuries she suffered in a one-car crash on Fresh Ponds Road in South Brunswick on Sunday evening.

South Brunswick Police were dispatched to Fresh Ponds Road near Selma Drive just after 6:30 p.m. A teenager who was driving a 2012 Honda Pilot and was headed eastbound on Fresh Ponds Road left the roadway on a curve and crashed into a tree. The road was closed for about five hours as first responders and investigators worked at the scene.

The Monmouth Junction Fire Department responded to the crash. Firefighters extricated the victim after thirty minutes. South Brunswick EMS and paramedics took the teenager to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. She died at 6 a.m. Monday morning at the hospital. She was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
