Freda to run unopposed in primary election for Princeton mayor, three candidates will seek two council seats
Former Princeton Borough Councilman Mark Freda will run unopposed in the Democratic primary for mayor of Princeton. There are no Republican candidates for the June primary, meaning unless someone runs as an independent candidate in the general election, Freda will run unopposed in November.
Three candidates are vying for two three-year terms on the Princeton Council in the Democratic primary. Newcomer Dina Shaw is seeking to unseat one of two incumbents up for re-election, David Cohen and Leticia Fraga. Both council members are completing their first term on the six-member council. The Republicans are not fielding any candidates this year.
Monday was the deadline for candidates to file for the Democratic and Republican primaries. Independent candidates have until primary election day to file petitions with the county clerk to run for mayor and council.
