Fire leaves Hopewell Township home uninhabitable
Just after 7:30 p.m. on Monday, residents of Skyfield Drive in Hopewell Township smelled smoke on the first floor of their home and called 9-1-1. The Hopewell Township Police Department, along with the Pennington Fire Company, responded. Fire personnel, under the command of Deputy Fire Chief Roger Demareski, arrived on location and quickly extinguished a fire in a bathroom.
The home suffered fire, smoke and water damage and was not habitable. Officials said no injuries were reported.
The source of the fire is under investigation by Officer Klesney of the Hopewell Township Police Department and Lt. Bailey of the Hopewell Valley Emergency Services. The fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
Responding agencies assisting the Pennington Fire Company included the Hopewell Fire Department, the Union Fire Company and Rescue Squad, the Lawrenceville Fire Company, and the Princeton Fire Department.
