‘Protect the Results’ rally tentatively scheduled for Nov. 4 in Princeton
A rally is provisionally slated to be held in downtown Princeton the day after the general election to call on the government to not suppress the vote and to continue counting mail-in ballots.
The “Protect the Results” rally is slated to be held from 4 to 5 p.m. on Nov. 4 on Hinds Plaza next to the Princeton Public Library. The Princeton-based Coalition for Peace Action is co-hosting the rally with the group Indivisible Cranbury. All attendees must wear face masks. The rally is one of about 450 rallies currently scheduled across the country.
“With every tweet and refusal to commit to accepting the legitimate results of the 2020 election, Trump seeks to stoke chaos and fear. But we will be ready. If Trump tries to steal the election or prevent every vote from being counted, the Princeton Rally and hundreds of others will be mobilized to demand that all the votes are counted and for the peaceful transition of power,” said the Rev. Robert Moore, executive director of the Coalition for Peace Action.
Speakers at the Princeton event include:
Yeimi Hernandez, a “Dreamer” immigrant to the US
Princeton Mayor Liz Lempert
The Rev. Lukata Mjumbe, Pastor of Witherspoon Street Presbyterian Church
The Rev. Robert Moore, Coalition for Peace Action Executive Director
Jeff Tittel, Director of the NJ Sierra Club
Organizers will determine whether to go through with the rally depending on what happens after election day. Planet Princeton will post an update about the rally on Nov. 4.
