Man sustains head injury after losing control of electric bike at Mercer County Park
A Hamilton Square man was riding his electric bike on the pedestrian path at Mercer County Park in West Windsor on Nov. 8 when he lost control of the bike, fell, and sustained a serious head injury, police said.
Just after 11 a.m., the 69-year-old man was riding his Rad Power Bike Mini along the path between the East Picnic Area and the Tennis Center, heading in the direction of the Tennis Center, when he attempted to go around a runner who was running on the path in front of him. He lost control of the electric bike as he tried to go around the runner, and hit his head on the ground, sustaining a serious head injury. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The runner remained at the scene after the incident and attended to the injured rider. No one else was injured, police said. The man was transported to the Robert Wood Johnson (RWJ) at Hamilton Medical Center by Robbinsville EMS. The incident is still under investigation.
