Hopewell cyclist dies after being hit by an SUV on Broad Street
Hopewell resident Susan Waskow, 59, died as a result of injuries she sustained when a Hamilton man driving a 2015 Kia Sedona hit her on Broad Street in Hopewell Borough on Thursday, May 13.
Waskow was cycling eastbound on Broad Street at the intersection of Princeton Avenue just after 4 p.m. on Thursday when Richard Burd, 67, who was traveling westbound on Broad Street made a left turn onto Princeton Avenue and hit her.
The Hopewell Rescue Squad and Capital Health paramedics transported Waskow to the Capital Health Regional Trauma Center, where she later died.
The crash remains under investigation by Hopewell Police Officer Michael Makwinski, Detective Adam Liotta,and Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Detective Ryan Minnick. Anyone who witnessed the crash should contact Detective Liotta at 609-737-3100 ext. 5460.
