Traffic alerts for the Princeton area for Friday evening and Sunday

The evening of Friday, June 4

Readers report that as of late Friday afternoon, the I-295 ramp is closed at Route 206. All traffic is being forced to exit. The ramp is closed because workers are installing signs a few miles down the road at Route 31. A dump truck crashed, caught on fire, and damaged signs earlier in the day. Readers report that traffic is backed up for miles trying to get on I-295.

In Princeton, police cautioned that some roads may be closed on Friday between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. because a pro-Palestine demonstration is being held on Hinds Plaza. Road closures would impact the Witherspoon Street area.

A dump truck crash on Route 1 near New Road in South Brunswick caused delays most of the day. Route 1 northbound was closed for a few hours after the 6 a.m. crash on Friday. The road was opened again around 10 a.m. Route 1 was down to one lane in each direction after it was reopened so repairs could be made to the median. The issue could still affect traffic in the evening.

Monday, June 7

Starting Monday, the Mercer County Department of Transportation will begin resurfacing Marshalls Corner Woodsville Road (County Route 612) between Route 31 north and County Route 518. The hours of construction are 830 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The work is expected to last about two weeks.
