Driver hits cyclist at intersection of Witherspoon Street and Birch Avenue in Princeton
The driver of a GMC sports utility vehicle struck a cyclist at the intersection of Witherspoon Street and Birch Avenue in Princeton just after 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
According to witnesses, the driver appeared to be turning onto Witherspoon Street from Birch Avenue when the driver hit the cyclist in the intersection. A witness heard the cyclist call out something like “Don’t hit me” or “You’re going to hit me” right before he was struck. People who were at the Meeting House restaurant rushed out to help the cyclist. His bike was wedged under the vehicle.
Witnesses said the cyclist had injuries, but was lucid and was talking and drinking water shortly after being hit. The cyclist was taken to an area hospital to be treated for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
