Flood debris removal service begins today for Franklin Township residents

Franklin Township has started a curbside flood debris removal service for residents who have property that was destroyed by Tropical Storm Ida.

Residents should put debris at the curb, and make sure sidewalks and roadways remain clear of debris. Do not block debris piles or park in front of them.

Items containing freon such as refrigerators, air conditioner units, and freezers will not be picked up. Tires and other hazardous household items also will not be picked up. Household waste can be dropped off on Somerset County household hazardous waste days. You can also dispose of tires and freon items for a small fee at the Franklin Township Convenience Center.

Officials are reminding residents that in order for electric panels, water heaters, boilers, and furnaces that are damaged by floodwaters to be replaced, construction permits are required. All permit fees will be waived.
