I-295 northbound ramp to Route 29 to be closed Tuesday as part of the Scudder Falls Bridge project
Officials from the New Jersey Department of Transportation announced Monday that the I-295 northbound Exit 76 ramp to Route 29 just before the Scudder Falls Bridge will be closed and detoured Tuesday as part of the Scudder Falls Bridge replacement project.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, until about 8 p.m., the Delaware River Joint Bridge Toll Commission, which owns and operates the bridge and is conducting the replacement project, is scheduled to close and detour the I-295 northbound Exit 76 ramp to Route 29, which is located immediately before crossing the Scudder Falls Bridge into Pennsylvania.
When the ramp is closed, Exit 75 for County Route 579/Bear Tavern Road in Ewing will be the last exit in New Jersey before the tolling point at the Scudder Falls Toll Bridge.
Officials said the ramp closure will allow work crews to diamond grind the ramp’s polyester polymer concrete wearing surface as one of the Scudder Falls Bridge Replacement Project’s final construction tasks.
Motorists on I-295 northbound are urged to plan ahead on Tuesday and be on the alert for warning signs in advance of Exit 75. Failure to take Exit 75 will result in a point-of-no-return situation where motorists will need to pay the bridge toll before attempting a u-turn from Pennsylvania back into New Jersey.
