Three people hospitalized after crash in South Brunswick Tuesday
An RV and a sedan collided at the intersection of New Road and Route 522 just after 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Three people were taken to area hospitals due to injuries.
The driver of the RV struck a traffic light pole after the collision with the sedan. Due to the impact from the collision with the RV, the sedan was propelled 15 yards off of the highway and landed in the woods.
The driver of the RV had to be extricated from the vehicle by the first responders from the Monmouth Junction Fire Department. The driver was then taken by a New Jersey State Police medical helicopter to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. The two occupants of the sedan were taken by South Brunswick Emergency Medical Services workers to the Penn Medicine Princeton Hospital for treatment.
Injuries were being evaluated at the two hospitals Tuesday afternoon.
The Kendall Park and Kingston fire departments, along with the Middlesex County Hazmat team, assisted at the crash location. The roadway was closed until about 5 p.m. for the investigation and roadway cleanup, police said.
The investigation into the crash remains active. Anyone with information is asked to contact South Brunswick Police Traffic Safety Bureau PFC Jason Gassman at (732) 329-4646.
