The 61st annual Colonel Hand March will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, in Lawrence. The march will begin at the Lawrence Municipal Building at 2207 Lawrence Road/Route 206 South.

Members of the public are invited to participate in the march that commemorates American patriot Colonel Edward Hand’s delaying tactics before the Second Battle of Trenton on Jan. 2, 1777.

The event will kick off at 10 a.m. with a history program at the Lawrence Township Municipal
Building, followed by a musket firing.

After the program, a two-mile march along the historic highway will be led by Colonel Edward Hand, who is played by Lawrence resident William Agress.

The march will end at the Shabakunk Creek near Notre Dame High School. Following the march, light refreshments will be served outside at the Lawrence Nature Center at 481 Drexel Avenue.
