NCAA Tournament: Princeton men defeat Missouri to advance to the Sweet 16 as women prepare to face Utah in round 2

The Princeton University men’s basketball team easily defeated No. 7 seed Missouri by a score of 78 to 63 on Saturday to advance to the Sweet 16.

At 7 p.m. on Sunday, the Princeton women’s basketball team will face No. 2 seed Utah at 7 p.m.

In the men’s game on Saturday, the Tigers led nearly the entire game and pulled away in the second half.

Princeton is the fourth No. 15 seed to make it to the Sweet 16. St. Peter’s was the third in 2022 and became the first No. 15 to make the Elite Eight when it beat Purdue in the third round of the tournament last year.

The Tigers hit 12 3-pointers against Missouri in the second half of the game. Blake Peters had five 3-pointers and Ryan Langborg had 22 points to lead all scorers.

Princeton’s margin of victory was the biggest of any No. 15 seed in the second round by five points. Princeton is in the third round of the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1965. The Tigers made it to the Final Four that season before losing to Michigan.

The Tigers will face the winner of tonight’s Baylor vs. Creighton game next Friday, March 24.
