Dinky train operating again after piece of gate removed from tracks

The Dinky train shuttle between Princeton and Princeton Junction was out of service for more than three hours on Tuesday afternoon because the tracks had to be cleared for the train.

NJ Transit issued an alert in the early afternoon, informing travelers there would be a temporary service disruption and the shuttle would be replaced with bus service, due to “a track obstruction.”

A spokesman for NJ Transit told Planet Princeton the obstruction of the tracks was caused by a piece of the gate mechanism. A piece of the gate mechanism had broken off and landed on the track. Workers removed it and the shuttle was back in operation just before 5 p.m.
