Former Congressman Rush Holt endorses Andy Kim for U.S. Senate
Former Congressman Rush Holt has endorsed Andy Kim in his bid to become the next U.S. Senator from New Jersey. Kim’s campaign announced the endorsement yesterday.
Holt said Kim had earned the seat. “We all know he brings the kind of highly principled public service for the people that New Jersey wants,” Holt said. “Andy has proven he can appeal widely to voters and build strong coalitions needed to help get Democrats elected across the state in November and beyond. I endorse Andy strongly.”
Holt represented New Jersey’s 12th congressional district from 1999 until 2015. He was one of only two physicists to serve in Congress during his tenure. After his time in Congress, Holt went on to serve as chief executive officer of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and executive publisher of the Science.
“I’m honored to have the support of Congressman Holt as we work to restore integrity and make sure people have a voice in our politics and in our Senate,” Kim said. “Rush knows what it means to win tough races, and he knows the importance of making sure that we turn out Democrats and sway Independents in November. I’m proud to have him by my side and with our campaign for change.”
