Municipality of Princeton opens cooling centers June 17-24 as National Weather Service issues excessive heat watch and advisory
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued an excessive heat advisory for Central New Jersey that is in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday, June 19. An excessive heat watch is in effect until Saturday evening, June 22.
For the heat advisory period, heat index values of up to 98 are expected. For the excessive heat watch, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 104 are possible. Excessive heat impacts may continue into Sunday, June 23.
Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
