Some lanes of I-295 will be closed in both directions over the next several months in Mercer and Burlington counties
I-295 is scheduled to have daytime and overnight lane closures in both directions over the next several months between Route 130 in Bordentown and I-195/Route 29 in Hamilton as a maintenance roadway resurfacing project begins in Burlington and Mercer counties.
I-295 Daytime Lane Closures
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9 and continuing daily Monday through Friday for the next several weeks, a single lane on I-295 northbound and southbound is scheduled to be closed between Route 130 and I-195/Route 29.
I-295 Overnight Lane Closures
Beginning at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, until 6 a.m. Wednesday, July 10 and continuing overnight Monday through Friday at the same time over the next several months, a single lane on I-295 northbound and southbound will be closed, with a second lane closed at 9 p.m. each night between Route 130 and I-195/Route 29.
The I-295 daytime and overnight lane closures are necessary to mill, pave, and restripe the roadway. At least one lane will be maintained during construction. Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and expect delays while driving through the work zone. Ramp closures may be necessary during construction. Drivers will be rerouted to detours when ramps are closed.
This work is part of a $13.8 million state-funded project that will mill, pave, and restripe about four miles of pavement on I-295 in both directions between Route 130 in Bordentown to I-195 in Hamilton.
The timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
