Police announce special traffic enforcement areas for Princeton, South Brunswick for January 2025
Princeton
Police in Princeton said there will be an increased presence of officers and strict enforcement of laws in the following areas for the month of January:
- In the Central Business District police will be enforcing the prohibition against riding bicycles and scooters on sidewalks.
- Drivers must obey the stop stop sign at Witherspoon Street and Spring Street.
- Police will be monitoring Terhune Road at Grover Avenue for speeding and yielding at crosswalks.
- Police also will be patrolling Alexander Street looking for distracted drivers.
South Brunswick
In response to a statewide rise in serious motor vehicle crashes, the South Brunswick Police Department has begun a series of enforcement details designed to keep highways safe. Police will be focusing on intersections, distracted driving, and speed, but will also be enforcing other violations observed.
January 4 to January 17
- West Side – From January 4 to January 10, police will be monitoring Promenade Boulevard for speeding, distracted driving, and a failure to stop for pedestrians within crosswalks.
- From January 11 to January 17, police will be monitoring Route 1 for speeding, distracted driving, and traffic signal violations.
- East Side – From January 4 to January 10, police will be monitoring Deans Rhode Hall Road for speeding, distracted driving, and failure to maintain a lane.
- From January 11 to January 17, police will be monitoring Route 130 for speeding, distracted driving, and traffic signal violations.
Kendall Park road work
Police also said drivers should be aware that PSE&G is replacing gas lines in Kendall Park. The project involves the replacement of the natural gas infrastructure throughout much of Kendall Park. Multiple crews are working daily. Expect road closures and detours during the project, which is expected to be completed in the fall of 2025.
Most of the roadways in the southern half of Kendall Park will be affected at various times over the next 12 months, police said. The roadways for the next two weeks include: Raleigh Road, Stockton Road, Berwick Road, Dawson Road, Savage Road, Pyne Road, Russet Road, Waller Court, Stillwell Road, and Woodbine Road. Anticipated completion date: Autumn of 2025.
