Meeting House to offer micro-grant program for PHS seniors again this year

The Meeting House restaurant on Witherspoon Street in Princeton is offering a hospitality internship and scholarship program to two Princeton High School seniors for the second year. Applications will be accepted beginning on Jan. 13.

Students will each receive $2,500 for college after completing a 200-hour paid internships at restaurant. Possible positions for student workers include both front-of-house and back-of-house jobs. 

The program enables students to earn money to further their educations, while also learning about what it takes to work at a food service company. Applicants should be interested in learning about the hospitality industry and be passionate about working in the Princeton community.

Program overview

  • Q: What is The Meeting House scholarship?
    A: This is a scholarship for members of the Princeton High School class of 2025 who are passionate about learning, interested in hospitality, and want to make a positive impact on the community. Two students will each receive a $2,500 scholarship.
  • Q: What jobs are available?
    A: Possible front-of-house jobs include hosting, bussing, and food running. Possible back-of-house jobs include food prep, line cook, and salad station.
  • Q: How much do I work and will I get paid?
    A: We will offer a flexible schedule, but ask that award-winners work a minimum of 200 hours between Feb 1. and Sept. 1, 2025. We will pay the students $16 per hour.  
  • Q: When does the application open?
    A: The application is open from 8 a.m. Jan. 13 to 5 p.m. Jan. 31, 2025.
  • Q: When will recipients be notified?
    A: Recipients will be announced on or about Feb. 15, 2025.
  • Q: Does it cost money to apply?
    A: No, applications are free.
  • Q: How do I apply?
    A:  All applicants must submit a one-page letter expressing why they believe they are a strong candidate for this scholarship. Send letter to scholarship@mhprinceton.com

Use of scholarship funds

  • Q: What can the scholarship funds be used for in my education program
    A: Awards can be applied in any area of study at any accredited institution of your choice, including two- or four-year colleges and universities, online programs, or vocational-technical schools. The funds are to be used to pay for coursework only.  (e.g., not for housing, books, etc.)
  • Q: What year can the scholarship money be used for? I graduate in 2025.
    A: Scholarship funds will be available in the fall of 2025 and payments will be paid directly to the institutions.
