Rideshare driver charged in two alleged luring incidents on Princeton University campus

Suspect accused of approaching students, offering cash, and soliciting sexual acts, authorities say.

A 28-year-old Spotswood man who authorities say worked as a rideshare driver has been charged in connection with two alleged luring incidents involving Princeton University students, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Dimario Wynter, 28, is charged with two counts of third-degree luring and two counts of harassment, a petty disorderly persons offense. He also faces a disorderly persons offense for allegedly attempting to solicit a sexual act from one of the victims.

Wynter was arrested on April 30 at the Princeton Police Department and released pending future court appearances.

According to prosecutors, the first incident occurred April 16 around noon on Prospect Avenue. A Princeton University student told police that a man driving a vehicle stopped and asked her for directions. He then handed her a $100 bill, exited the vehicle, approached her quickly and demanded a sexual act, authorities said. The student dropped the money and ran from the area. Investigators said the suspect was driving a black Jeep Patriot.

A second incident was reported the following day, April 17, at about 9:30 a.m. on Ivy Lane. Another Princeton University student told police that a man driving a dark van or SUV stopped and asked her for directions. He then gave her a $100 bill and asked her to leave with him, according to authorities. The suspect left after the student returned the money.

An investigation by the Princeton University Department of Public Safety, led by Detective Martin Krzywicki, identified Wynter as a suspect. Authorities said he is a rideshare driver for Lyft.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Sgt. Ed Hughes at 609-989-6441 or submit an anonymous tip through the prosecutor’s website.
