Agricola, Mistral and The Peacock Inn made the cut for New Jersey Monthly’s 2014 list of the best 25 restaurants in the Garden State.

“The products and produce of Great Road Farm—the handiwork of farmer Steve Tomlinson—fuel the imagination of executive chef Josh Thomsen and fulfill the furrow-to-fork vision of Jim Nawn, who owns the farm and the restaurant,” reads the review of Agricola, the Witherspoon Street eatery that is one-year old.

The write up about Mistral praises executive chef Ben Nerenhausen for his ability to juxtapose flavors, colors and textures and create seasonal dishes that are “multinational in concept and conversation stopping in deliciousness.”

Peacock Inn chef Manuel Perez and his wife, pastry chef Cyndi Perez, received high marks from the magazine for food that “is exotic and extravagant, yet familiar.” When the two are not cooking at the Peacock, they are reading food magazines or food books.

The New Jersey Monthly list is released every summer. Agricola and The Peacock Inn also made the list in 2013, along with Eno Terra in Kingston. For the full list and detailed reviews, visit the magazine’s website.
