accidentbensalemprincetonresidentA Princeton resident accused of a hit-and-run accident was arrested Thursday after a police chase in Bensalem, Pa.

Police officers in Bensalem were dispatched to investigate a hit-and-run accident involving a blue BMW at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday, police said. Officers spotted the BMW, but when they attempted to stop the car the driver ignored the police sirens.

When officers realized the driver was not going to stop, they ended their pursuit of the car. The driver of the BMW drove north on Mechanicsville Road and sped through a red light and then crashed into a Toyota Corolla. After the crash, the driver of the BMW fled the scene on foot.

After a foot chase, police finally caught the driver, Sara Culhane, 19. During the arrest, Culhane allegedly kicked one of the police officers in the head.

Culhane and the driver of the Toyota were both taken to the hospital for treatment.

Culhane is charged with aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude police, accidents involving death or personal injury, resisting arrest and traffic violations. She was arraigned before Bensalem District Judge Joseph Falcone and sent to Bucks County prison in lieu of 10 percent of $750,000 bail.
