Gas Leak at Princeton University Construction Site

A backhoe struck a gas line at the Lakeside graduate housing construction site at about 8:06 a.m. Construction workers in the area were evacuated. Officials said there were no injuries.

The Princeton Fire Department, the University’s Department of Public Safety and PSE&G responded to the incident. The gas was shut off at 8:24 a.m. and the site was cleared shortly thereafter.

Lakeside will house up to 715 Princeton University graduate students in 329 units. The complex is adjacent to Lake Carnegie and within walking distance of the Dinky train station.
