Deputy Majority Leader Assemblyman Reed Gusciora (D-Hunterdon/Mercer) issued a news release today about his plans to announce his reelection bid to the New Jersey General Assembly.  He is slated to announce he will run for the state Assembly again at his annual campaign celebration called “Triumph in November” Nov. 18 at the Triumph Brewing Company in Princeton.

The announcement comes after press speculation that he is seeking a county judgeship.

Gusciora is currently serving his tenth term representing New Jersey’s 15th legislative district.

As New Jersey’s first openly gay legislator, he pioneered legislation to legalize gay marriage in the state. He is the architect of New Jersey’s medical marijuana program, has advocated for the developmentally disabled community, and has sponsored animal rights legislation. Recently he  introduced legislation that would address the burgeoning problem of sexual assault on college campuses, as well as an initiative that would establish oversight procedures for investigating police officer involved deaths.

A resident of Trenton and former resident of Princeton, Gusciora said he hopes to explore legislative solutions to stimulate growth in the state’s economy and urban centers if reelected.

The “Triumph in November” event will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Ticket prices begin at $50. For more information email reedfornj@gmail.com.
