Friends Set Up Site to Raise Money for Family of Jim Gaines
Friends of Jim Gaines, the Plainsboro resident who died after the derailment of Amtrak train 188 last week, have set up a site to collect donations for his family.
Gaines, 48, worked for the Associated Press for many years. He is survived by his wife and two children.
“Our community is reeling from the loss of our dear friend, Jim Gaines. If you’ve met Jim, then you know Jim. He didn’t hold much back. He embraced newcomers in his life quickly and earnestly. He embraced people literally. It was an honor and a privilege to call Jim a friend and he will be sorely missed,” wrote a friend on the website page that has been set up to collect donations.
“Those who know Jim understand just how passionate he was about his family and his children,” wrote the friend. “Many people have asked about donations for Jim’s family during this difficult time. This site has been set up for those who choose to make a donation.”

What’s the purpose of the donations? It’s a sincere question.
