Fire at Blawenburg Cafe in Montgomery
A fire broke out at the Blawenburg Cafe and Catering Company on Route 518 in Montgomery Township just after 9 a.m. today, Jan. 21.
Smoke and flames could be seen coming from the two-story building.
The fire was under control before 10 a.m. Route 518 between the Great Road and Mountain View Road, and a portion of the Great Road were closed for more than four hours. The roads were re-opened just after 1:30 p.m.
Fire officials in Montgomery have not responded yet to inquiries by Planet Princeton about the damage to the cafe and the possible cause. We will update this story when we have more information.
The cafe previously was previously the Blawenburg Market and has operated for more than 100 years. It was renamed a few years ago when a new owner bought the business. Many locals still refer to it as the market.
