Blizzard Watch Issued for Mercer County for Jan. 22-24

blizzard watch Jan 22The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a blizzard watch for the central and southern parts of the state starting Friday evening through Sunday Morning.

Snow is expected to arrive from the south starting around rush hour in Salem County and moving north. The snow is expected to start out dry and fluffy and become wetter as the storm progresses.

Wind gusts in Central New Jersey  could approach 40 miles per hour. Snow accumulation for the storm is predicted to be between 12 and 24 inches. Currently up to 17 inches of snow is predicted for the Mercer County area.

Officials are asking that residents not park their cars on streets this weekend so that plows can remove the snow from the streets.

Moderate coastal flooding and wind gusts to 50 mph in the coastal counties are possible.
