Public works crews continued to clear secondary roads in some towns Sunday night and early Monday morning. Some crews were given a needed night of rest after working non-stop for two days. A Princeton Wawa manager worked for more than 40 hours straight to make sure Princeton and West Windsor crews and first responders were fueled with coffee.

Most roads are passable now, but the West Windsor Police Department cautions that there are lots of icy patches. Drive with caution and leave extra time for your trip. Some trains are running behind schedule by about 20 minutes, while some others are canceled. The Dinky shuttle is not in service and has been replaced by a bus. Chambers Street in Princeton is closed for snow removal today. Cold Soil Road is also closed between Keefe and Carter roads for snow removal today.

Today’s high is a frosty 36 degrees, but mostly sunny skies should help start the melting process. The rest of the week promises to be warmer, with lots of sunshine, bringing puddles and slush to a road near you.

It’s back to business for many shops and companies today, but most schools in Central New Jersey are closed because of the weather. Students rejoiced when they learned the news Sunday after groaning Friday and Saturday that they had been cheated by Jonah because of the Saturday timing. High schoolers are now directing their sympathies to students at the Lawrenceville School and the Peddie School, the only two major schools in the area that are open today.
