Fox Found in Lawrence Tests Positive for Rabies

Earlier this week, the Lawrence Township Health Department was notified of a fox in the area of Baker Basin Road and Basin Road. The fox was in contact with neighborhood pets and was tested for rabies by the New Jersey State Health Department Laboratory. The results were positive.

Because rabies has been identified in the area, officials are asking residents to make sure their pets’ rabies vaccinations are current.

If anyone was in contact with the fox or if a pet was in contact with the fox, it is important to alert local health officials. Contact the Lawrence Township Health Department at (609) 844-7092 if you are aware of anyone in contact with the fox over the last 14 days.
