Obituary: Owen Gerrard Bardzilowski

3890367Owen Bardzilowski died at home in Princeton on Thursday, Sept. 15 at age 14.

A lifelong resident of Princeton, he began his freshman year at Princeton High School this month. Over the years, he loved to play golf with his dad and grandpa, was an expert in solving various kinds of Rubik’s cubes, an enthusiastic skateboarder, and was active in various youth sports programs. He was known for his kindness to his classmates and his acceptance of others.

Owen is survived by his parents, Joe and Marie Evelyn Bardzilowski, his siblings Miles, Ella and Maria, maternal grandmother Marie Thomas of Plainsboro, paternal grandparents Joseph and Julia Bardzilowski of Clark, and Carole Vill’Neuve of Las Vegas, aunt Lisa (Ron) Rapolas, uncles Charles “Eddie” (Carolyn) Thomas, Michael Thomas (Northern Ireland), Mike and Jon Bardzilowski, great uncle Leon Bardzilowski, Dawn and Arturo Pacheco and special cousin Evelyn Torres (Pensacola, Fla.) and was loved in life by a host of cousins, extended family and friends.

Owen faithfully attended the Princeton Police Department Youth Academy over the past few years and was a counselor in the program this summer.

Visiting hours are Monday, Sept. 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Kimble Funeral Home, 1 Hamilton Avenue in downtown Princeton. Funeral services will be private.

The Bardzilowski house is also open for any friends of Owen and his siblings, and to anyone from the community, his father said. The address is 18 Henry Avenue. The family expresses their thanks for all the support from the community in this difficult time.

Since it was Owen’s dream to be a Princeton police officer, in lieu of flowers his family requests donations to  the Princeton Police Department Youth Academy Fund, c/o PBA Local 130, 1 Valley Road, Princeton, New Jersey 08540.
